Let’s Learn Sarawak Language in an easy way..

Part 1

I’ve created this post because I got a lots of friend who wanted to learn Sarawak Language yet failed to find a proper place to study this unique and one of a kind language with the native speaker of the language…Let’s cut to the chase.

To learn Sarawak Language,the first thing you need to know Sarawak Language is very different from the National Malay Language.

Lets start from how to address people in Sarawakian way…

Dimulakan dengan Bismilahirrahmannirrahim…

1)Saya= kamek= Me

2)Kamu= kitak= You

3)Dia= Nya= She/He

4)Mereka= Sidaknya= They

5)Sini= Sitok= Here

6)Sana= Sinun= There

7)Bersembang / bercakap= Kelakar/Beloyar= Talking

8)Beritahu= Madah= Tell

9)Itu= Ya= It’s

10)Baik= Bait= Good

What I share here is the basic words that we use in daily life.

And we Sarawakians are proudly speak our languages too!! Ngee

Tidak / Tak= Sik= No

Tiada= Sik Ada= Not

Jangan= Sikboh= Never

Kenapa= Kenak= Why

Disana= Sinun= There

Dimana= Siney= Where

Orang= Sidak= They

Punya= Empun= Owner

Sekarang= Kinektok= Now

Kemudian= Dudi= Later

Kelmarin= Ari Marek= Yesterday

Hari Itu= Ari Ya= That Day

Sombong= Lawa= Arrogant

Bohong= Bulak= Lie

Ketuk= Tukuk= Knock

Pukul= Paluk= Hit

Baling / Lontar= Tikam= Throw

Manja= Manjak= Pamper

Risau=  Riso/Bingong= Worries

Gelik= Geli = Terrible

Budak= Biak / Nemiak = Child

Budak Kecil= Miak kecik = Children

Kereta= Motor= Car

Bodoh= Paloi= Stupid

Dibawah= Dibah= Under

Sedap= Nyaman= Delicious

Lama= Lamak= Lame

Jumpa= Temu= Meet

Kucing= Pusak= Cat

Anjing= Asuk= Dog

Ayam= Manok= Chicken

Hijau= Gadung= Green

Jemu= Lejuk/Angol= Boring

Kapal Terbang= Belon= Airplane

Bising / kecoh= Kamboh/ Sekoh= Noisy

Kasihan= Tedah= Pity

Rindu= Beraie= Longing / Missing

Nakal= Mancal= Naughty

Gembira= Rindok= Happy

Menari= Tandak= Dance

Sombong= Lawa= Arrogant

Leka= Layap= Absorbed / Slack

Mengada-ngada =  Ngegeh/Mintak Puji = ?? maybe “to show off” Or “flaunt”..

Baring= Gurin= . ??she “laid” the baby in his crib..

Okay, now you basically know the basic way to address people in Sarawak Language.

You are good to go and married a Sarawakian Citizen. Lol…Just kidding!.

In my next post on Lets Learn Sarawakian Language I’ll share a lots more of this wonderful unique language that sometimes sounds like France Language, (Reader : “Where on earth that she got that idea?” Me: “Haha..When I’m in a changing room in a Shopping Mall I heard people who sound like Sarawakian when they speaks but I don’t even hell understand a word. Later i discover it was France Language” ngehehh..

A lot sounds like the altered version of english language and its varied according to the district they are living.

Contoh ayat..Example:-

Apa polah kitak?  ~ Awak tengah buat apa?

Apa dipadahnya?  ~ Apa yg dia bagitau?

Apa kenak kitak? ~ Kenapa dengan awak?

Ajat luqman taun tok maok pergi aji  ~ Hajat luqman tahun ini mahu menunaikan haji

Mat suka ngajok kelaka bapaknya  ~ Mat suka mengajuk percakapan bapanya.

Aek tebu Pak Shukri ya sik nyaman.  ~ Air tebu Pak Shukri itu tidak sedap

Abisla Nizam, nya mesti kenak anok lekak tok. ~ Siaplah Nizam, dia mesti kena marah lepas ini

Jangan dikacau dier tu, dier tengah buat keje dier.  ~  Iboh dikaco nya ya, nya benong molah keja nya ya.

Benong polah apa?  ~ Tengah buat apa?

Iboh layap.  ~ Jangan leka

Kenak nya ngegeh gilak?   ~ Kenapa dier action/mengada-ngada sangat?

Tedah sekali nangga nya ya.  ~ Kesian betul tengok dier tu

P/S :- Torang perasan sik betapa keruknya lidah ku nak kelakar Malaya ya…Hahahaha.. Ada ku dianok sidak Malaya kelakar gya..
